Is Cerave Cruelty free?
NO. CeraVe is NOT Cruelty free! CeraVe products’ ingredients or final products are tested on animals. They also sell their products in retail stores in countries where animal testing is required by law.
Is Cerave Vegan?
CeraVe is not fully Vegan. While they offer certain vegan products, they are not entirely vegan, implying that some of their products may contain ingredients derived from animals. Nevertheless, since they are NOT a cruelty-free brand, we do not recommend pouring your hard earned money into purchasing animal tested products.
Is Cerave owned by a parent company that tests on animals?
Yes. Cerave is owned by a parent company L’oreal that tests on animals.
L’Oréal falsely advertises they are Cruelty free and they do not test on animals. However, L’Oréal sells their products in markets where animal testing is required by law, categorizing them as NOT Cruelty free.

You might ask me: “Haven’t animal testing laws in China have recently changed so brands can sell their products and still be Cruelty free?”
Ordinary Cosmetics like skincare products, makeup etc. can be exempt from animal testing under certain conditions. However, special use cosmetics like sunscreen, hair dyes etc. are still required to undergo animal testing in 2024.
Does Cerave sell their products in Mainland China?
Yes, you’ll find CeraVe products on the shelves in mainland China. Since animal testing is still mandatory for special use cosmetics as I discussed above, CeraVe’s products are subjected to animal testing. Check out the countries where they’ve got a presence on their website (here).
