About The Brand
Stila is a Los Angeles based Makeup and Beauty brand.
Ethical Pixie Standards:
EthicalPixie has contacted the brand directly to understand their Cruelty free Status.
Below is the response from Stila:
Thank you for contacting stila customer care.
All of Stila’s products are FDA compliant. We strictly follow FDA regulations for the United States and Europe, as well as many other regions around the globe. In addition, all of our formulas go through a strict safety assessment review with an independent third party prior to being available for use by our customers. It is important to use preservatives to prevent bacterial and fungal contamination. With the high level of natural ingredients in our formulations, the absence of preservatives would require our products to be refrigerated and used within a few weeks of production. Additionally, we strive to ensure our products do not present any health risk from contamination by harmful microorganisms (through normal consumer use) by using preservatives such as parabens.
We are proud to advise that Stila Cosmetics is on PETA’s (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) list of cruelty-free companies and we proudly display the PETA cruelty-free bunny on our website. We never test on animals and have our supply partners certify they also share this value and do not conduct any tests on animals. Many of our products do not contain ingredients derived from barley, oats, rye, spelt or wheat, which are commonly known sources of gluten. However, due to the wide range of raw materials and equipment used during the manufacturing of our products, we cannot confirm that our products are free from any traces of gluten. Palm oil usage can be accounted for in more than 70% of household and cosmetics products. Most restrictions for palm oil usage pertain to environmental concerns. Boycotts of palm oil will neither protect nor restore the rainforest, whereas companies undertaking actions for a more sustainable palm oil industry are contributing to a long-lasting and transparent solution. Stila is in the beginning stages of its initiative with is laboratories to take extra steps to work with others in the palm oil value chain to create and support models for sustainable production and best practice, such as RSPO. We always provide our Beauty Bosses with a full list of ingredients for every product by shade so that they can decide whether it aligns with their preferences and lifestyle choices. Parabens have been used for over 70 years and are approved by the US FDA for use in a wide variety of consumer products, including foods and beverages. Parabens provide a critical role in frontline defense for preventing disease and infection in humans by preventing fungal and bacterial contamination, and are recognized as safe by the World Health Organization as well as government agencies around the world. In the United States, the Cosmetic Ingredient Review (CIR) expert panel (an independent body of internationally recognized medical and scientific experts in safety evaluation) has reviewed parabens and concluded that they are safe for use in cosmetic products.
At the middle of every Stila product page on our website, there is a tab which lists the ingredients for all product(s). If a formula is certified Paraben Free, we will state it as such for that product in that section on our website, as well as on our packaging. We always provide our Beauty Bosses with a full list of ingredients for every product by shade so that they can decide whether it aligns with their preferences and lifestyle choices.
Thank you for contacting us. Have a beautiful day!
